Yom Haatzmaut
On Thursday, we were very blessed with beautiful weather. The children looked fabulous in blue and white and we were grateful to the JNF for sending us Israeli flag decorations to put around the school and for each child to take home. Thank you to Miss Lewin for decorating the hallways.
Thank you to parents for sending in 50p for Ohel Sarah https://ohelsarah.org.uk/
We started the day with Hatikvah. The children enjoyed Israeli dancing with Miss Oberlander. Mika ran group activities throughout the day for all classes in the school. |The children enjoyed falafel for lunch. Activities took place across Secular and Kodesh lessons. A huge thank you to all staff for supporting the day.
Reception and Year 1 enjoyed making Israeli flags. Reception learned about Israeli soldiers and the different roles that they have. They also learned about the Kotel. Year 1 learned about symbols on Israeli stamps.
Year 2 learned about the Machane Yehuda Shuk (market) and they enjoyed setting up different stalls and learning about the different foods that are sold and Hebrew language that would be used when shopping.
Year 3 are in the process of producing a beautiful Kotel wall display for our school which we are excited to see!
Year 4 learned about the Geography of Israel. They enjoyed a lovely walk around the park for the Ohel Sarah walk to Israel. They had to tick off the names of the Israeli cities that were hanging around the park on their own maps. A huge well done to Year 4 for selling the red strings today to support Keren Hashiviis and the Mitzvah of Shemittah. They made around £60 today which is amazing!
Year 5 researched Israeli inventions
Year 6 researched the 4 holy cities of Israel including Yerushalayim, Chevron, Tiveria and Tzfat.
